Outreach Service Overview
The outreach service will provide mainstream primary and secondary school staff with specialist advice and training to enable them to include pupils with social communication difficulties (autism) within their local mainstream setting.
The outreach service will be managed by Springhallow School.
The service will be monitored by the Local Authority and caseload information supplied regularly to the Local Authority.
The service will also be provided for pupils with Ealing statements or statutory EHC plans attending out of borough schools.
Chargeable services may be provided to schools and settings for support and training that falls outside the service specification i.e. voluntary, early years settings, colleges, independent schools. (It is the responsibility of the school to make and maintain contact with the outreach service).
The service will provide training on social communication difficulties (autism) to mainstream primary and secondary schools. It will consist of:
- A central training programme available to all Ealing borough maintained primary and secondary school staff to be held at Springhallow School at no charge.
- School-specific bespoke training which schools may buy into. Schools will be required to provide attendee names and roles, total attendee numbers and a suitable training space, to be discussed on arrangement.
- Additional accredited training courses which schools may buy into including courses developed by the Autistic Education Trust (AET), Elklan and Team-Teach.
