Connexions
Connexions is an impartial Information, Advice and Guidance service for young people aged between 13-19 years, and up to the age of 25 years for those that have special educational difficulties or disabilities.
Connexions involvement usually starts from the young person’s Year 9 Transitional Review. The Connexions Advisor gathers information for the “Learning Difficulty Assessment’’ (LDA) which is generally updated every year. As the young person nears the end of their time at school the Connexions Personal Adviser will support and help them and their families to identify appropriate next steps, which could include:
Further Education (local college)
6th Form
Employment Apprenticeships and Pre- apprenticeships.
The Connexions Advisor offers information and guidance on a range of suitable pathways and opportunities, and is there to support the young person in making informed choices about their next steps. This can be done during 1:1 guidance interviews and group sessions. The Connexions Advisor works in partnership with school staff, the Local Education Authority, Social Services and other relevant services in addition to making referrals where appropriate
